The JAC T8 is built tough, but Kenya’s mix of city traffic, rough murram tracks and long highway runs demands a consistent maintenance routine to keep the drivetrain and suspension at peak condition.
- Every 5,000 km: Engine oil and filter change — critical in dusty upcountry conditions
- Every 10,000 km: Inspect brake pads, check differential and gearbox oil levels
- Every 20,000 km: Air filter, fuel filter, and coolant top-up
- After off-road use: Check undercarriage for damage; inspect leaf springs and shock absorbers
- Tyre rotation: Every 10,000 km to equalise wear across all four corners
Regular servicing at an authorised JAC Kenya centre protects your warranty and ensures OEM parts are used.
Book a Service →The JAC T8 is rated to carry up to 1,000 kg in the load bed. Overloading beyond this strains the leaf springs, accelerates tyre wear and can void your warranty. Here’s how to stay within limits while maximising utility.
- Distribute evenly: Centre heavy loads over the rear axle; avoid all weight at the tail
- Tyre pressure: Increase to the load-rated pressure (see door sticker) when carrying full payload
- Leaf spring check: If the rear sits noticeably lower than normal, the springs need inspection
- Towing: T8 is rated for 3,500 kg towing capacity — always use a weight-distributing hitch for heavy trailers
- Regular weighbridge check: For commercial operators, this avoids fines and protects the chassis
JAC Kenya offers both the diesel T8 and the fully electric T8 EV. The right choice depends on your routes, charging access, and operating cycle.
Choose the T8 ICE (Diesel) when:
- Your routes include upcountry or remote areas with no charging infrastructure
- You need to carry heavy payloads over long distances without range anxiety
- You require towing capacity on a regular basis
Choose the T8 EV when:
- Your operations are within Nairobi or between cities with reliable charging
- You want to eliminate fuel costs and reduce long-term running expenses
- Your business has sustainability or green fleet targets
Our sales team can calculate a full cost-of-ownership comparison for your specific use case.
Explore Both Models →The 470 km Nairobi–Mombasa run is Kenya’s toughest standard route for any vehicle. For a loaded T8 pickup, preparation is critical — especially the Mackinnon descent and the humid coast approach.
- Tyres: Minimum 3 mm tread; check spare; inflate to load-rated pressure for full payload
- Brakes: At least 4 mm pad remaining — the Mackinnon descent is the hardest braking section
- Coolant & oil: Top up; inspect underneath for any drips before departure
- Leaf springs: Inspect for cracks if carrying near maximum payload
- Lights: All indicators and brake lights working — night traffic police are active on this route
- Recovery gear: Tow rope, jack and spare wheel accessible — not buried under the load
JAC N-series light trucks are popular among Nairobi logistics operators for their payload capacity and low running costs. Fleet operators who maintain proactively spend significantly less per vehicle over five years than those who react to breakdowns.
- Every 10,000 km: Engine and transmission check on each unit — catch small issues before they become expensive
- After off-road or site assignments: Undercarriage and suspension inspection before returning to road duty
- Every 15,000 km: Tyre rotation to equalise wear across the fleet
- Fleet account: Priority booking, itemised per-vehicle invoicing, parts tracked by chassis number
- Driver training: Correct loading technique reduces chassis wear significantly

Talk to Our Fleet Team →Counterfeit parts for JAC pickups and trucks circulate openly in Nairobi’s spare-parts markets. They fit the same mounting points but use inferior materials, failing early and sometimes causing secondary damage to other components.
- Weight: Genuine parts are heavier — thinner casting or stamping is the most obvious tell
- Surface finish: Poor paint, rough casting marks, or uneven plating on visible parts
- Serial & QR code: Genuine JAC parts carry a traceable code verifiable on the JAC parts portal
- Packaging: Poor print quality, missing holograms, or misaligned logos on the box
- Price: If it’s significantly cheaper than the authorised price, it almost certainly isn’t genuine
All parts supplied by JAC Kenya are sourced directly from JAC Motors and carry a full warranty. We do not use the open market.
